This is a portrait of Spitfire Ace Sailor Malan who flew flew from Biggin Hill in Kent. He was South African by birth
and returned there after the war where he eventually succumbed to Parkinson's disease in 1963.
This was a present for a big Louis Armstrong fan!! James has painted this in the same style as the Keith Moon painting
that was featured in the "Into the Fire exhibition"
This was a portrait of a friends wife done as a commission for her birthday. It was difficult enough to work from a photgraph
of someone James had never met and even more so because as you can see the face was hidden by the many locks of hair.
James says of this painting.......
"This was another commission for a Bryan Adams fan, it was unfortunate that I didn't have this with me when I met Bryan
as I could have got him to sign it but....watch this space."
William Topley is one of the finest singer songwriter's this country has ever produced. It was James's pleasure and privilege
that Williaqm owns this and another of James's paintings.
